《疾病的隐喻》一书收录了桑塔格两篇重要论文《作为隐喻的疾病》及《艾滋病及其隐喻》,在文章中桑塔格反思并批判了诸如结核病、艾滋病、癌症等如何在社会的演绎中一步步隐喻化,从“仅仅是身体的一种病”转换成了一种道德批判,并进而转换成一种政治压迫的过程。文章最初连载于《纽约书评》,由于反响巨大,此后数年中两篇文章被多次集结成册出版,成为了社会批判的经典之作。


作者介绍

苏珊•桑塔格
1933年生于美国纽约,毕业于芝加哥大学。1993年当选为美国文学艺术学院院士。她是美国声名卓著的“新知识分子”,与西蒙娜•波伏瓦、汉娜•阿伦特并称为西方当代最重要的女知识分子,被誉为“美国公众的良心”。2000年获美国国家图书奖,2001年获耶路撒冷国际文学奖,2003年获西班牙阿斯图里亚斯王子文学奖及德国图书大奖——德国书业和平奖。2004年12月28日病逝于纽约。
Susan Sontag
Has written four novels, The Benefactor, Death Kit, The Volcano Lover and In America, which won the 2000 National Book Award for fiction; a collection of stories, I, etcetera; Several plays, including Alice in Bed; and eight books of essays, Against Interpretation, Styles of Radical Will, On Photography, Illness as Metaphor & AIDS and Its Metaphors, Under the Sign of Saturn, Where the Stress Falls, Regarding the Pain of Others and At the Same Time. Her books are translated into thirty-two languages. In 2001 she was awarded the Jerusalem Prize for her body of work, and in 2003 she received the Prince of Asturias Prize for Literature and the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade. She died in December 2004.
